Troop 997 Facts and Figures

Our current membership stands at over 70 boys, as we have continued to grow since our original charter in 1998 with 12 scouts. The troop's success is due largely in part to our active parent participation. Currently we have over 50 registerred adult members of the troop. A typical weekend camping outing finds ten or more "Old Goats" along to insure the scouts' safety and provide an active scouting program.

In the 2009 charter year the scouts in Troop 997:

Had 863 nights of camping;
Had 1014 hiking miles;
Had 240 canoeing miles;
Contributed 313 hours of community service;
Earned 234 merit badges in 47 different areas;
Earned 64 rank advancements from Scout to Eagle;
Celebrated 5 new Eagle scouts;
Welcomed 9 new Weblos into Boy Scouts;
Earned the Quality Unit Award;
Sent two crews to the Philmont High Adventure Base;
Sent scouts to Camp Ottari Base Camp, Claytor Lake Acquatics Base, and Mountain Man summer camp programs at the Blue Ridge Mountain Scout Reservation; and
Delivered over 6,700 bags of mulch to fund troop operations and contribute towards scout's summer camp and high adventure fees.
